The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation recently announced Katie Ferrier, Vice President for Education & Workforce Development at the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, was selected to participate in the seventh cohort of its premiere business leadership program. The Business Leads Fellowship Program trains and equips leaders from state and local chambers of commerce, economic development agencies, and trade associations with resources, access to experts, and a network of peers to build their capacity to address the most pressing education and workforce challenges.
Following a competitive application and selection process, Katie was selected along with a cohort of 34 others to participate in the seventh class of this program. The six-month program, consisting of both in-person and virtual meetings, will cover the entire talent pipeline, including early childhood education, K-12, postsecondary education, and workforce development.
Katie has also been selected by the U. S. Chamber to serve on the Early Childhood Education Task Force. Established by the U.S. Chamber Foundation, this group of state and local Chambers, childcare providers, and major employers mobilize to educate policymakers on the importance of early childhood education as an essential component of a strong workforce. This is as issue your Chamber will be advocating for in the upcoming Texas Legislative Session in 2023.
Katie will be highlighting the good work of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce in these leadership groups but will also gain insight from other communities to apply back here at home.
